“What do you see in the mirror? Do you see a perfect face; someone with a perfect body? Is it even difficult to look at yourself in the mirror? Do you see someone who has it all together, or do you see someone who is flawed? Do you see deep sadness, great joy or somewhere in between? Do you see years of guilt and shame clouding your reflection? Do you see someone who has a hurting heart, or someone who has received healing from the Lord Jesus?
Do you see only what a human can see or who God says you are? Do you see years of insecurity, or a growing faith and confidence in your standing with Him? Take some time to look in the mirror. Look deep and get real.
THAT is the face that Jesus loves. THAT is the person who Jesus forgives, accepts, and will never walk away from. THAT is the person who is valued by the Lord God.” – excerpt from “Chained No More” (self-discovery version)
Besides the physical appearance we see in our reflection, there is another element to us that can get clouded by trauma, abuse, addictions, etc. That is our personality/temperament. My husband and I have taken many management assessments, and our results are virtually opposite of each other every time. He is the thinker, analyzer, calm voice, and likes to have life scheduled most of the time. I am the feeler, fly-by -the-seat-of-my pants type of girl who excites and gets emotional more easily, and use my heart more than my brain. You may think that it must be difficult for us to be married sometimes, but to tell you the truth, it is perfect, because we don’t try to change each other. We respect and love each other enough to celebrate who God made us to be. We work together to live life, using our individual gifts and talents in synch. It’s worked beautifully for over 42 years of marriage, praise God! I make life more fun for him and he keeps me out of trouble more times than I would like to admit.
This Tuesday on Chained No More Talk Radio, our guest will be Kathryn Robbins, who is the author of “What Makes You Tick…A Self-Scoring Adult Personality Assessment Profile” and other very creative resources. It is fascinating to read and take her assessments. She has even written an assessment tool for kids! Her information is right on!
Please tune in to Chained No More on May 24 at 2-3pm ET at www.toginet.com. You can also download the podcast later that day at www.toginet.com/shows/chainednomore.
“We who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord Who is the Spirit.” (2 Cor. 3:18)
