Steps and Escalators

Our society has become one of laziness and little effort in many ways.  Instead of getting up to change the channel, we use a remote. Instead of studying hard, we use Cliff Notes. Instead of using a push mower, we have riding ones or self-propelled ones.  Instead of walking, we ride anything but. Instead of taking the stairs, we  use the elevator or escalator.  We will drive around a crowded parking lot forever so we don’t have to walk a few yards. Sound familiar?

We have dreams and set goals for our lives, but many times don’t want to make the effort or take the necessary steps to make it happen. We expect it to just drop in  our laps somehow. We want what we want when we want it and that is now!  I know people who are so set on what they want that they limit themselves on so much  more.  I have found that just because we want something, it doesn’t mean that it is in God’s plan for us.  We have a very limited view as human beings, but He knows the big picture.  Just because we don’t have a good imagination or Godly insight, doesn’t mean there isn’t something spectacular waiting out there, for us.

” In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.”  Prov. 16:9

“A man’s steps are directed by the Lord.  How then can anyone understand his own way?”  Prov. 20:24

Time to quit looking for the elevator to take us to the top without our efforts and work.  Time to listen carefully to the Holy Spirit, walk through open doors and quit trying to push our ways through the closed ones.  Seek the Lord’s will over seeking our own desires and…enjoy the journey.
