Spring Cleaning

 

It’s that time of year again.  Time to put away the winter clothes, open the windows and begin that long process of….Spring Cleaning.  Time to dust under things on cabinets, counters and ledges.  Time to vacuum under the couch cushions, under the bed.  Time to clear the cupboards out of the boxes or bags of half used and outdated foods.  Time to (ugh!) clean out the fridge from top to bottom.

 

Some of us look forward to this annual project, and then there are the rest of us….

 

Maybe this is the year we need to look at our personal and spiritual lives and see where we can also do some Spring cleaning too.  We should take a look at what we put in our minds…movies, computer sights, books, magazines, activities and music.  How is that shaping our minds, beliefs, actions and words?

 

Maybe there is more dust on our Bible than on our other books or magazines.  Maybe our memory has gotten dusty and we are no longer memorizing Scripture to guide and encourage ourselves and others.

 

Maybe some of our relationships have been covered with dust because of lack of connection.  Maybe past issues have made it impossible and need to be dusted off, looked at again, forgiven and released.  Pick up the phone.

 

Here is a great scripture passage concerning the Spring cleaning of our lives.  “Whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable…if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, thing about such things.  Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice.  And the God of peace will be with you.”  Philippians 4:8,9
