Run Toward the Dawn

There is a lot of talk of watching the sun set and the end of another day.  Whether it is in Maui or California or Iowa or Alaska, a beautiful sunset seems to quiet the soul as we watch the sun disappear into a blanket of orange and pink.  One of our favorite places to watch a sunset is on the beach in Hawaii.  We hear the crashing waves, feel the warm breeze and see the spectacular views as we wiggle our toes in the sand.  Ahhhhhh!

In contrast, there is the sunrise.  I am not a morning person, so I don’t see many sunrises, to be quite honest.  I have friends who get up before it is even light out and those are the ones who post pictures of gorgeous sunrises coming OUT of a blanket of orange and pink.  I choose to view them on my phone instead of seeing them in person, but we all enjoy them, nonetheless.

A sunrise can be a sign of hope for a new day and new experiences.  The Lord has given us the gift of another day. Another day to serve Him. Another day to forgive.  Another day to make some progress and live with purpose.  Another day to show love in tangible ways and by how we speak.  Another day to show compassion and understanding.  Another day to move forward. Another day to try and live to be the best we can be.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.  They are new every morning;  great is Your faithfulness.”  Lam.. 3:22,23
