What a circus this political election has become! Every time I turn on the t.v., there is someone ranting and raving about “them”. Facebook has become filled with vicious, negative rantings as well, and it has finally gotten to the point that I don’t read ANY of them. As soon as I realize something is political, I push my favorite button on Facebook…”Hide Post”. Hide it?! I want to “Destroy Post!”
This political scene has risen to a sort of mob scene from a bad movie…signs, fists, screams, guns, and even blood. STOP IT!
This country is the only one we have and our flag stands for it. There are two sides to our flag, but it is still the same flag. Washington, D.C. is a battle field of its own, where those elected are battling each other instead of battling perceived threats and risks from other countries and ideals. STOP IT! Something has to change. Oh, we who are Christians would like nothing more than to “go back” to when God was the leading force in our lives and the country. HIS principles, values and ideals.
This country is no longer a Christian nation, but we still have the same flag with two sides. How do we move forward toward a country of peace, let alone a world of peace? How do we come together and find the answers to what is destroying us? How can politicians stop their fighting and rhetoric and come together under one flag for the good of our people?
I am committed to praying every single day for our country and this political year. I am committed to praying before I cast my vote for the candidate and ideals of my choice. Admittedly, this is not a comfortable year for voting for president, but we must do our part. I am committed to praying for whomever the Lord allows into the White House this time. We can be sure that our all-knowing Father knows who will win in November. We can cut the rhetoric, putdowns, whining and bashing nominees and parties. STOP IT!
“Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood (nominees or “them”), but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Eph. 6:10-12
We are not fighting people; we are fighting the enemy, knowing that God is sovereign and goes before us. He’s got this! We are only responsible to Him for what WE say and do and how we represent Him, on social media, our personal conversations, and how we teach our children. God bless America and may He heal our land and our world as HE sees fit. We either trust Him or we do not. Think about it.
