What do you dream about? Are your dreams chaotic or peaceful? Are your dreams about looking for something or losing someone? Dreams can tell us where our subconscious is and what is on our mind.
I don’t usually dream at all, but if I do, on occasion, it is usually about running around preparing for something. Maybe I lose my notes or can’t find someone or am late for something…things like that. I am very thankful that it doesn’t happen often, that’s for sure! I need lots of restful sleep.
Another kind of dream is when we dream of something in the future or a goal we want to reach. Maybe we dream of being an author, a singer, the boss of our own company. becoming a parent or getting married to someone perfect for us. What do you dream about during the daytime hours? Have your dreams turned to yearning to the point of obsession, so you can’t enjoy the present.
“I KNOW the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Since He knows everything, He knows about the struggles you have been living or may still be living with. He knows that some of the dreams you had for your life did not come true and that there may be discouragement. Like my father told me, “We humans have ‘pea brains’ and we have no clue of the magnificence of God or what His plans are until He reveals them to us.” He sees the WHOLE picture. We try and we try and we dream and we dream, but can’t figure out why things don’t “work out” for us. Just because we want something desperately doesn’t mean it is in His plan for us.
I am a firm believer in “going to the door”, but I don’t feel that it has to be so hard to make something happen. If it is in His will, I have found that the doors will open wide and then it is my purpose to give 100% and give Him all the glory. I have been constantly surprised where the Lord is leading me in ministry, almost to the point I don’t have time to dream human dreams and visions.
“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21 Sit and meditate on this scripture. Are you trying to make a human dream come true and missing what He had planned for you all along? Be faithful in what He has before you now and learn to be content. Experience the joy of where He has planted you. Enjoy the journey of FOLLOWING Him. Dream on, but don’t let it ruin a life of living in His plan.
